Samara and Dale create a lifetime of memories on September wedding day
They say that it is good luck if it rains on your wedding day, because it symbolises unity, renewal and the cleansing of tough times in the past.
For newlyweds Samara Lynch and Dale Edgar, even though there were a few Autumnal showers throughout their special day, the Victoria Bridge couple loved every minute of their wedding – and along the way, they created treasured memories that will last them a lifetime.
Their intimate civil ceremony took place at the Kee’s Hotel in the scenic Stranorlar, on September 29, 2017 and it was performed by registrar Louise Mulcahy.
Their wedding reception also took place at the quaint County Donegal hotel – a place they chose due to its friendly staff, beautiful food and homely atmosphere.
Samara, who is a care worker, first met Dale in 2009 in the sleepy village of Victoria Bridge shortly after she moved there – and they were fond of each other from the very beginning.
“I like everything about Dale really,” Samara described. “I love how he is a brilliant dad to our two children, Eire and Taylor.” It was during Eastertime in 2011 that Dale, who is a steel erector, asked Samara for her hand in marriage. Getting down on one knee, Dale presented Samara with a platinum ring which featured a shimmering cluster of diamonds in the centre. “I was very excited,” Samara reflected. “His proposal was a lovely surprise.”
The pair began planning for their big day approximately a year after Dale’s proposal took place – but Samara admitted that she was unsure for ‘a long time’ what colour scheme she wanted for her wedding. “However I knew I wanted my wedding day to be a mixture of traditional elements and modern ones,” she said.
For Samara, wedding dress shopping was something which she ‘loved every minute of’. And happily, in shop number two – Beautiful Day Bridal Cottage in Derry – the Victoria Bridge woman found a feminine gown that was just perfect for her. The sparkly, strapless number featured a mermaid design which was perfectly fitted to her shape and it was decorated with sparkles and an ornate floral pattern. “It just caught my eye at first glance,” she said.
When Samara’s September wedding day finally arrived, she described feeling a mixture of emotions. “I was just so happy and excited to be getting married, but the day was also very emotional throughout,” Samara admitted.
Whisked to her Donegal wedding venue in a stylish vintage car – a traditional Beauford automobile – Samara said her intimate service was simply ‘beautiful’. “I became emotional as soon as the first song was played,” she said.
After their special civil ceremony, the new Mr and Mrs Edgar enjoyed their white five-tiered wedding cake which was beautifully decorated, and they danced the night away with their 130 guests to wedding band, Superstition. “It was definitely the best day of my life,” the 25-year-old concluded.
