Spring Hair & Beauty Trends 2016
Every bride knows that having your makeup perfect on the Big Day is an essential. For those brides who rarely wear make-up it’s a chance to get all dolled up and try something new, and for those of you who worship at the altar of the make-up artist, it’s safe to say it’s one of the most important things after the dress and the shoes.
Every season we see different make-up trends all over the catwalks of Fashion Week and in the pages of magazines. Some of them are amazingly beautiful and some of them are downright terrifying. So we have rounded up the latest make-up trends in a bid to give you some inspiration.
We are pleased to report that the world’s obsession with eyebrow excellence will continue long into 2016 and beyond. This season’s eyebrows are slightly softer and less severely defined for a more natural look. Although still strong and statement, the idea is to have more of a brushed, delicate look that will compliment a more romantic style.
An eyebrow mascara will give you this soft natural look, we like this one from NYX, but make sure you choose a shade that is relatively natural or the results can be disasterous.
Dewy Glowing Skin
Winter saw a massive trend in a very contoured, sculpted look with a matt and flawless finish. Although highlighting did come into play, it was more about having a lighter colour, rather than an actual glow. This season, skin is dewy and glowing with an all over luminosity that just looks so healthy and fresh.
Keep your foundation natural and luminous, with something lightweight and dewy. This foundation by Armani comes with a hefty price tag but in our opinion is totally worth it for how little you need to use. The Luminous Silk Foundation from Armani is oil-free lightweight and silky. It’s extremely blendible and buildable coverage will last all day and give you that perfect bridal glow. Not to mention it photgraphs wonderfully, meaning you photos will be just as beautiful as you are.
Highlighter has been slowly climbing the ranks in the makeup world, reaching a peak during the strobing trend last summer. As much as we love a bit of sparkle, we’re glad things have calmed down a bit.
Try focusing mostly on liquid or cream highlighters, using a sponge to make sure they’re well blended. We love Topshop’s Glow Dome in “Zephyr” which is a gorgeous pinky gold and blends so well into the skin.
If you do prefer a powder highlighter, something like Topshop’s Highlighter in “Sunbeam” is exactly what you’re looking for with a beautiful, super pigmented golden sheen.
Apply the highlighter to the very tops of your cheekbones, and to your browbone, down the bridge of your nose, on the cupids bow of your lip. Add a little bit into the corners of your eyes and a little on your chin and blend blend blend.
Although usually associated with the festive season, red lips have been everywhere for spring/summer this year at New York Fashion Week. From Dior to Victoria Beckham we models sporting Christmas’ favourite lip, so grab yourself a MAC Russian Red or Ruby Woo and get festive.
We aren’t sure if it’s the influence of the Kardashians or whether it’s just their general prettiness, but plaits are really having a moment. They can really make a style stand out and whether you choose to have them softand pretty, or tighter and more structured, plaits will really give your wedding hair the ‘Wow” factor.
Add a few flowers, decorative pins or a headband for added loveliness, and you can rest assured you have a beautiful style that will only look better the more disheveled it becomes from dancing up a storm. Plaited hair styles will also work with or without a veil, really it could not be easier.
