Wicked Weddings Backstage Coverage

When I was asked to cover The Wicked Weddings Event in Eberington Square in Derry in May, I was both excited and intrigued.

Having worked at and attended plenty of wedding fairs in my time, thanks to my job and to many friends and family members having upcoming nuptials, it’s safe to say I know my way around your average wedding fair.

But this was something else! When I arrived at Eberington Square, I was greeted by a huge purple and white striped big top. Yes, a circus tent! At a wedding Fair! How inspired! Outside the tent there were jesters and a charming VW camper van as well as more traditional wedding cars.

The stands were varied and individual, showcasing everything from hotels and wedding cakes, to magic mirror photo booths and game of thrones style photo sets.

But what really interested me was the amazing fashion show that took place at regular intervals throughout the day. Our very own blogger Jemma Donnell from Creative Jemz, was at the creative helm of hair and make-up, styling and beautifying a troop of models, both male and female, alongside her team.

Getting to see the styling and production of something so professional and creative at such a close range, was a great experience. And although everyone was extremely efficient and professional, I must say, that everyone seemed to have a lot of fun, myself included.

The designs showcased were incredible, with Bridal Couture from designer Claire Garvey and House of Maya, suits from Esquire and hand crafted bow ties on display, it’s safe to say that there was a plethora of wares on display.

With the wacky and individual everywhere I turned, it really was a fantastic event to remember, and I really look forward to attending their next event.

Have a look through our gallery of all the fantastic images I managed to snap from backstage and during the show. Enjoy!
