Beauty Round Up – Red Lipstick
You can’t go wrong with a red lip. It’s timeless, classic and elegant whilst still being edgy, sexy and striking. However, many people feel as though it is too “out there” for a bride. We say, be brave! If you want to stand out on your wedding day with a pillar box red lip then you go right ahead.
Nude lips, although beautiful and natural, can be underwhelming, especially for the bride who is a fan of a strong lip in general. A red lip can be a tricky look for a bride however. A wedding, as you know, is a full day event, so you need a lipstick with longevity. You also need a lipstick that won’t transfer when you’re puckering up for photos.
So here is our round up of the best red lipsticks out there, to give you an idea of what you need.
Retailing at just £4.99 this little baby is a steal. It glides on and is easy to apply with it’s precise wand. IT dries completely matte and doesn’t budge all day. You’ll barely need to touch this up all day, apart from after eating.
Do drink through a straw where possible, although it’s vertually zero transfer, it does tend to come off when drinks are consumed.
Mid-Range – Revlon Matte Lipstick in Really Red 6
The colour is super pigmented and two coats should last you well into the reception.
High End – Mac Matte Lipstick in Russian Red
MAC is the holy grail of lipstick. With non-drying formulas that stay put and don’t transfer this is our winner. Although Ruby Woo is the notoriously popular favourite, we feel that russina red has a more vibrant pop of colour and is less drying.
For extra staying power, use a lip liner, we recommend MAC lipliner in cherry.
Seal with lipcote lipstick sealer for a red pout that will last well into the wee hours.
