Deciding what flowers to include in your bouquet can be a daunting task, especially for those without ‘green fingers’. If you are completely clueless when it comes to flowers and don’t know your orchids from your cosmos (yes it is a flower and not just a cocktail) then it is best to speak to a recommended florist. If you are working to a tight budget make sure to ask which flowers are in season as these are often less expensive than flowers that need to be shipped in or grown specially out of season.
Autumn flower arrangements
Dahlia flowers are in season from June to October and are available in a wide-ranging spectrum of colours including reds, pinks, oranges, yellows and of course white. Mix with autumn season hydrangeas, which are more subdued in colour than their summer blooms for a striking bouquet.
Winter flower arrangements
Although the winter season yields relatively few flowers this does offer brides and excellent opportunity to use different textures that will add depth to a bouquet, such as holly berries and pine cones. If this is a little too festive for you then opt for a timeless classic such as Calla Lilies/ This elegant flower is a favourite for weddings, sturdy enough to be used on their own or mixed with roses for an elegant arrangement.
