Calm the wedding Jitters

By  |

All brides get a little anxious before their wedding, it is perfectly normal. Whether it’s the planning of the actual day, or the actual enormity of the commitment you’re about to make, it’s not out of the ordinary to feel a little jittery.

Here are our tips to keep you calm and put things into perspective.

Ask for help

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by how much you have to do then say so. Planning a wedding is no easy task and many brides don’t realise this until they’re half way through. Share these thoughts with your partner and bridal party and they will most likely help take the pressure off you in any way they can.

Talk to your partner

If it’s the idea of actually being married that is giving you butterflies then fret not. Again this is perfectly natural and there is a good chance your partner is feeling something similar but is too afraid to say. Your husband or wife will be your partner in life so you should be able to discuss the feelings you have surrounding the marriage. Just make sure you approach the subject in a way that means that you both end the conversation feeling reassured rather than anxious and insecure.

Realise what’s important

To quote Carrie Bradshaw, don’t “let the wedding get bigger than Big.” Many brides get so carried away with the planning and aesthetics and at times find themselves competing with others to have the best wedding. Do not do this, you will make the whole process much harder for yourself and for those around you.

Keep sight of what is important, which is the love between you and your fiancé, and the commitment you’re about to make to each other. Don’t get bogged down in the bells and whistles.

Don’t sweat the small stuff

Maybe your flowers haven’t turned out the way you want, or your invitations are the wrong colour. So what? Don’t let the little things ruin your special day. You can’t control everything no matter how much you want to, so as long as your dress fits, your favourite people are there and you can all eat drink and be merry you’ll have an amazing day.

Stick to your budget

Although it is an important day, and every bride wants to have the wedding of their dreams it is important for you to stick to your budget. This will prevent many arguments, and will result in much less stress for both you and your partner in the future. Altough it is the start of the rest of your life, it is one day, so don’t put yourself in a mountain of debt that will have an impact on the rest of your future.
