Dress shopping – It’s all about the ‘experience’…

Dawn 5 minutes with Dawn Clarke, owner of Lamelia Bridal Studio, Sligo, North-West Brides ‘2016 Best Bridal Boutique’ Award winner

Imagine booking in for a bridal appointment somewhere overlooking a private tranquil lake surrounded by rolling mountains outside Sligo town. Bliss. You would be forgiven for thinking it was a spa desitination but think again, this is the setting for Lamelia Bridal Studio.

At this exclusive studio style boutique it is all about the ‘experience’ when finding your perfect dress. Book an appointment at the studio and you will have the undivided attention of the fabulous Dawn, owner and experienced bridal consultant. There is no pressure on the bride-to-be, it’s a very relaxed affair and there is an amazing selection of dresses.

Lamelia Bridal Studio has been voted the 2016 ‘Best Bridal Boutique’ by the North-West Brides readers and we took the opportunity to chat to Dawn about her business.

Q. First things first, where did the name Lamelia come from?

I have two daughters Layla and Ameila so I named the business after them.

Q. How long has Lamelia been open?

Lamelia Bridal Studio is one year in operation. Previous to this I worked on a finance team for a multi-national firm but left this to follow my long-term dream of opening a bridal studio.

Q. The setting of our studio sounds amazing, describe the Lamelia experience to brides-to-be

It’s all about the experience when visiting Lamelia Bridal Studio. Each appointment is an hour and half and there is only ever one bride-to-be in the studio. My main focus is to give girls a private memorable experience when shopping for the dress of their dreams. The red carpet is always out to welcome the bride-to-be and she will be treated to refreshments and nibbles during her appointment.

Q. How many people work at Lamelia?

It’s just myself running and working at Lamelia. I deal with the bride-to-be from the first appointment through the ordering process to collection of ‘the dress’ before her wedding day. I stay in touch with all my girls throughout and take great honour in being part of their special day.

Q. What bridalwear and accessories do Lamelia stock?

Wedding dresses, veils, headpieces, belts, bags and shoes.

Q. What brands does Lamelia stock?

I am excited to announce I will be stocking Art Couture (see below) from September! I also stock Allure, Allure Romance, Sophia Tolli, Benjamin Roberts and Demetrios.

Q. What are the opening hours at Lamelia?

I take appointments Tuesday – Saturday, 10am -7pm, however, if these times don’t suit I can take late evening appointments on request.

Q. What does winning this award mean to you and your business?

To win the 2016 Best Bridal Boutique award is a fantastic achievement given the fact that I am only one year in business. I feel Lamelia was very deserving of this award as my main focus is giving girls a memorable experience when dress shopping. I was very honoured to be nominated in the first place for this award but then to go on a win it really proves that Lamelia is the best in the North-West!

Q. What bridal wear trends have you seen emerging for the coming season?

From recent buying trips I have noticed a lot of 3D lace throughout all designers. I also noted jumpsuits have been added to the collections giving an alternative for brides that don’t want to wear a wedding dress. Separates are also hot on trend at the moment, not for everyone but a nice look if you want to be different. I don’t generally buy what’s in fashion at a point and time. I buy dresses that are timeless, unique and when brides look back over their photos in ten years’ time they’ll still love their dress and it would still be classed as current design.
