A Guide To Dresses – Silhouette
When it comes to choosing your wedding dress it helps to have an idea of what style of dress suits your body shape. After all it’s your big day and with all eyes on you, you want to make sure you sizzle! Choose a silhouette that will highlight your best-loved assets and conceal your less favourable ones.
If you are comfortable wearing dresses, then you most likely know by now what suits you and what doesn’t, if not, fear not ladies, this simple guide should help point you in the right direction.
RECTANGLE: If you’re straight up and straight down then you need to be looking to add some curves. Go for gowns with added volume and details at both the chest and hips to help create the illusion of an hourglass silhouette.
TRIANGLE: Also known as pear shaped, you want the focus of attention away from the hip and thigh area and more toward the face. The shoulders and bodice will need something there to add width in this area. This will create balance to the bottom half of the figure.
INVERTED TRIANGLE: Balance wide shoulders by adding details at the bodice especially at the hip area and details to the skirt to draw attention to those areas instead.
ROUND: Divert attention away from the mid-section and have the attention brought up to your face or focus on your legs.
HOURGLASS: You have the curves, so show them off. Opt for body-hugging to enhance your sexy silhouette. Stay away from ruffles and tiers.
