I gotta, gotta tone up for the big day….
IF ever there is an incentive to lose weight or tone up, it is for your wedding day. And it’s not just you who wants to look good. Bridesmaids and guests equally want to look trim and show off their figure as they mingle with friends and strangers.
Easier said than done, right? Right. So, what works? This largely depends on how much you want to lose and how much time you have got to lose it. It also depends on the strength of your willpower.
In a nutshell, it comes down to mindset and whether you want a quick fix or a way of losing weight and keeping it off in the long term.
If it’s the latter, then it’s hard to argue against the old fashioned, eat less and exercise more. Boring and tiresome as it may sound, this works. And once you get into a routine, healthy eating habits will become the norm and doing extra exercise can become fun.
Fitness trends that have proven hits with the celebs are now on the doorstep. Keep fit, zumba, yoga, pilates, spinning, boxercise, circuits, aerobics, swimming, water aerobics. All worthy ways of shaping up that also allow you to go out and have some fun.
If you don’t have the cash to splash on a class or a workout in the gym, stick to the traditional favourites. Go walking, running or cycling. Get all the bridal party involved – a bit of competition will see the pounds drop quicker. With 5 and 10k events taking place in many towns and villages, you won’t have to go far to sign up.
If none of this appeals, you can’t make time, or you just don’t want the hassle, there are other options that will appeal. Spas and beauty salons are the way to go if you want to eliminate toxins, tighten skin, treat cellulite and lose inches fast.
You can expect to pay more but you will probably relax a bit more too. And a stress buster at this stage of your wedding planning is always welcome. Opt for a gentle workout on the toning tables or a vibration plate machine or try something new.
After, all it’s not everyday you will go for a cellulite treatment, a body scrub or a detox wrap. For best results, a good diet, more exercise, or a course of treatments nearer the date you should be the envy of your guests.
