Monaghan couple Mark & Amanda wed
The wedding of Miss Amanda Stirrat to Mr Mark Hall was one of old world charm and sentiment. Both hailing from Monaghan they met through mutual friends who thought they would make a good couple and right they were. The proposal took place at picturesque Mullaghmore Head in County Sligo, where Mark got down on one knee and popped the question. Mark had a ‘proposal ring’ with him for the event so that Amanda could then pick her own engagement ring. A year in the planning the wedding was organised together with friends and family.
Amanda wanted a wedding dress that was light and elegant with a vintage feel. She found the perfect gown at De Paor Designs, Kilcoole, Co Wicklow. Her veil was customised with lace embellishment, which was also from De Paor Designs. The veil was accompanied by a Headpiece borrowed from her sister. Amanda made her earrings from an old pearl necklace she owned. Amanda’s sister and bridesmaid wore a pink gown from Lady’s Day in Monaghan. The ringbearer was Amanda’s and Mark’s son Nathan who wore Monsoon and the flowergirl was dressed from Debenhams.
A very dapper Mark was suited by Wilson’s in Monaghan, a friend of Amanda’s works at the store and ensured the groomsmen were impeccably turned out!
The highlight of Amanda’s day was walking into the church ‘it was a beautiful feeling seeing everyone and the flowers and the atmosphere, it was like a dream!’ She said. Amanda vividly remembers the smell of her bouquet on that beautiful summer’s day. (Flowers by Tina’s Floral Arts, Ballybay, Co Monaghan)
The highlight of Mark’s day was when their son Nathan burst into a run for the last 10 meters when he spotted daddy waiting at the top of the aisle, and of course his beautiful bride-to-be behind him!
Amanda & Mark got married in St Macartan’s Catherdal, Monaghan and most of their stunning photographs were taken there by Jude Browne Photography.
They also stopped by the grounds of St Davnet’s Hospital for a photo opportunity between the two churches, Amanda said ‘it’s unusual to have two churches side by side and it was symbolic to us and representative of both our faiths’.
The newly married couple, family and friends enjoyed a reception at The Olde Post Inn, Cloverhill, Co Cavan, where they danced he night away to music by Itchy Feet the band.
Amanda & Mark had a short honeymoon at Harvey’s Point, Donegal and later in the year spent 12 days in Jamaica.
