Newlyweds Paula and Chris have the ‘best day of their lives’

If Paula Teague could describe her beautiful wedding day in one word, it would be ‘perfect’. She was blessed with lovely and bright spring weather, intertwined with a heartfelt service that she’ll remember forever, and everything went completely according to plan.

The Dromore woman wed Chris Campbell in a traditional ceremony performed by Fr Patrick MacEntee at St Davog’s Church on May 26, 2018.

The newlyweds’ wedding reception took place at the Mill Park Hotel in the heart of Donegal town – chosen by the pair because of the top class staff that ensured everything ran smoothly, and perfect food. Paula, who is an account manager, was also keen to point out that the hotel itself was simply beautiful, and finished to a very high standard.

She recalls first meeting Chris, a retail technical specialist, during a night out in Derry with friends in June 2012. “I walked over and introduced myself to him which is something I would never normally do,” Paula recalled.

Together for two years, it was on November 9, 2014 that Chris, who is from Cookstown, got down on one knee and presented Paula with a glittering white gold solitaire ring. “His proposal was perfect,” Paula described. “I’m not one for anything over-the-top or too cheesy so Chris arranged a private and intimate proposal, and of course I said yes. “I was so happy and overwhelmed. Chris has always been there for me, and he always makes me smile.”

The pair decided to enjoy a long engagement, so they waited a year before they started planning for their big day. “We booked our venue, and started from there,” Paula described. “We didn’t really have an idea of what we wanted our wedding to look like, but thankfully everything fell into place. “However we knew we wanted something quite traditional, with something a bit different thrown in.”

Describing wedding dress shopping as ‘amazing’, Paula went shopping with her mum, Breda and her sister, Aimee who she is very close with. And happily it didn’t take long at all for Paula to find ‘the one’ – an ivory, fitted tulle gown from Pronuptia which featured a sheer, beaded neckline and scooped back. “I loved how it fitted and how it moved,” Paula described. “It was so different to any others that I had tried on. The girls at Pronuptia were very helpful.”

Groom, Chris Campbell has a wedding day to remember with his best man, Nathan Campbell, and groomsmen, Cathal Teague and Eoghan Teague.

When Paula’s wedding day arrived in late June, she described feeling ‘extremely excited’. “I just couldn’t wait to see Chris,” she recalled. “The weather we had was perfect – it was sunny and we couldn’t have asked for better.”

Whisked away to St Davog’s with her father, Paul in a white 1930s-style Imperial Landaulette, Paula said that her service was both beautiful and emotional. “Walking into the chapel with my father, with all my family and friends around me to meet Chris at the altar was very emotional,” Paula reflected.

“The music during the service was also beautiful.” Later on in the day, the new Mr and Mrs Campbell enjoyed a three-tiered, white cake with a gold leaf trim – and decorated with gorgeous figures of their three cats! Wedding band and DJ, ‘The Promise’ provided the live music and Paula and her husband, Chris danced the night away – only stopping when the band ended. “It was the best day of our lives,” the 27-year-old concluded. “Everything went perfectly, and we just couldn’t have asked for a better day.”
