Perfect Day Laced With Personal Touches For Nicola and Colm
The sun shone down on Nicola Meegan and Colm McNabb’s beautiful winter wedding, which saw a number of their family members involved in their perfect day.
The pair were wed at St Patrick’s Church in Eskra on February 17, 2018 in a personal ceremony performed by Fr Peter McAnenly. Their wedding reception took place in the Villa Rose Hotel, Ballybofey – a place the newlyweds chose due to its lovely, homely feel and helpful guidance from Rhonda, their wedding coordinator.
Nicola, a children’s nurse from Eskra, recalls meeting Colm at the Bank Nightclub in Newry more than nine years ago. The pair were together for seven years when the joiner from County Tyrone romantically proposed in the Galgorm Hotel in Ballymena on May 27, 2016.
“I was very surprised,” Nicola reflected. “Colm picked my gorgeous ring himself in Lunns in Belfast. “It is a round, platinum set diamond cluster ring.”
Booking their wedding in 2016, Nicola recalls having a good idea of what she wanted her special day to look like. “I always knew the colour scheme that I wanted to follow,” she said. “I liked the idea of my bridesmaids wearing purple, with pastel-toned flowers to match.”
Nicola visited a number of shops in search of her perfect gown – but once she tried on a particular gown in Serendipity Bridal Boutique in FIvemiletown she simply knew that she had found ‘the one’.“It was a white fitted dress, with a lace back. I also got a belt custom made to compliment my gown which I loved.”
On the morning of her big day, Nicola recalls feeling ‘relaxed’ – this was something that came as a surprise to her as she expected to be nervous.
Also on the 29-year-old woman’s side was the weather. It had been snowing the weeks previous, but her big day turned out to be a beautifully sunny Saturday. “We were so lucky with the weather,” she smiled. “It couldn’t have been any better.”
Nicola travelled to the chapel by limo – and her dad ensured that she was definitely on time for the service by arriving at 11.45am. “Our ceremony was beautiful and very personal,” the children’s nurse said. “I loved the fact that different members of myself and Colm’s family played a huge part in our wedding day.”
“Both my mum and dad gave me away, my auntie Geraldine was our florist and my cousin, Paschal, provided the fantastic church music. “My auntie, Noeleen McAnenly created a personalised post communion reflection for Colm and I, and Colm’s sister, Paula Molloy made our wedding cake.”
She added, “Later that night, we all enjoyed The Bleed’N Cowboys, who were very lively. The dancefloor did not empty all night.
“Our wedding day was everything that I had ever dreamed of,” Nicola concluded. “We had the most perfect day, from start-to-finish.
